During the remainder of the year, Schlitterbahn is open weekends only. The park offers swimming, tubing, sunbathing, picnicking, children's activities and a variety of amusement rides that will thrill people of all ages. This Texas waterpark occupies 70 acres on the banks of the Comal River making it one of the largest waterparks in the world.


The Schlitterbahn company was started in 1966 by Bob and Billye Henry as a place where they could tube down the Guadalupe River. As word spread about their unique tubing experience, people began to show up from all over to take part. In response to this growing popularity, the Henry's opened a small waterpark in 1979 called New Braunfels Tubing Center. This was the first Schlitterbahn Waterpark and it is still open today.


The Schlitterbahn New Braunfels waterpark was expanded significantly in 1981 with the addition of two large pools, slides, a restaurant, and a gift shop. The park now covers 70 acres and features more than 50 rides and attractions. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Texas, attracting over 1 million visitors each year.


Schlitterbahn New Braunfels has something for everyone with its wide variety of rides and attractions. Thrill seekers will enjoy rides like the Master Blaster, which propels riders up a 22-foot hill and down into a pool of water, and the Boogie Bahn, which sends riders down a twisting, turning slide. More relaxed visitors can enjoy swimming in one of the park's four pools, sunbathing on the sandy beaches, or tubing down the Comal River.


The park also has a variety of restaurants and cafes, so you can refuel whenever you need to. There is everything from pizza to Tex-Mex to barbecue, so you're sure to find something to your taste. And if you need a break from all the excitement, the park offers plenty of places to relax and take in the scenery.
